The educators that work at Compass School are all certified teachers  with higher education in their field of study and several years of teaching experience.  
They are passionate about helping every child reach their full potential. 

Jennifer Deshaies, M.i.T.
Director / Lead Teacher
Middle School Social Sciences
 
Ms. Deshaies holds a Masters in Teaching degree, a Bachelors Degree in English and is a Nationally Board Certified teacher in History and Social Studies for adolescents. She has 18 years of teaching experience educating students ages 10 - 15 in both public and private schools. Most recently she has worked as an Upper Division Head of School. Jen Deshaies has a passion for history and  is currently working toward her PhD in Indigenous People and American History. Her other passions include  traveling, quilting and community service. She shares her life with  an English Bulldog, and Australian Shepard and her amazing son and daughter who are both attending college in the Bellingham area.
 
 
Marie Brewin
Teacher
Middle School Natural Sciences
 
Marie Brewin holds a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Bachelor of Education with a concentration in Literacy. She has over fifteen years' teaching experience with students of all ages, in Canada, Hawaii, and at Bellingham private schools. Most recently, she taught writing and math classes to home-schooled middle school students. She has been the math support and spelling teacher at Compass School for the last two years and is excited to take on the role of Natural Sciences teacher and share her love for hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Marie enjoys reading, running, and exploring at the beach with her two young children.
