Math and Science
At Compass School students are taught math using the College Prepatory Mathematics curriculum. Students are placed in math courses according to their knowledge and ability rather than their grade level. This allows students to be effectively challenged without feeling frustrated. In this environment, students are engaged using hands-on techniques and creative development actvities to take responsibility for their own learning. They are taught to incorporate teamwork and partnerships as a part of the learning experience.  Students are assesed using a variety of techniques to check their knowledge and comprehension.

Through integration of hands-on science lessons, reading and writing skills and experiential learning, students engage in Science in a three year cycle. This rotation includes compenents of Physical science, Earth science, Astronomy, Geology, Physics, and Chemistry. This year, students are in the third rotation of this cycle. Students will be learning about biology and life sciences this year.
